Through collaboration with Flowserve, CPTC conducts courses for industry participants on pumps, mechanical seals and system reliability to help in their operations. Trainees can learn about pump hydraulics, pump performance curves, operation and proper maintenance of pumps. Trainees are also being taught the causes of mechanical seal and rotating equipment failure. The training laboratory is designed for hands-on training, a special feature being the “see through” pump design which allows trainees to have a better understanding of how a pump works as well as how pump cavitation occurs. Trainees also learn about Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH) principles, which are important in oil refinery and chemical process plant operations. |
